Clay's signature appears prominently on the front free endpaper.

Fine condition. Blue cloth boards with light shelf wear and minor rubbing at the corners and spine ends. The binding is tight, the pages are clean, and the signature is bold and well-preserved. First edition, published in 1950.

General Lucius D. Clay (1897–1978) was one of the most influential American military leaders of the postwar era. As Military Governor of the U.S. Occupation Zone in Germany from 1947 to 1949, he directed the reconstruction of West Germany and became one of the principal architects of its democratic and economic recovery. Clay is perhaps best remembered for organizing the Berlin Airlift, the massive operation that supplied West Berlin after the Soviet blockade of 1948–1949. Decision in Germany remains one of the definitive firsthand accounts of the Allied occupation and the early years of the Cold War.
