Lloyd L. Burke autographed this United Nations General Assembly First Day Cover honoring the 1959 United Nations General Assembly issue, postmarked March 30, 1959, in New York. Burke signed the cover in pencil, adding the inscriptions "Colonel USA Ret," "CMH Korea 1951," and the date "7/8/57."

Lloyd L. Burke (1924–1999) was a United States Army officer and Medal of Honor recipient who earned the nation's highest military decoration for extraordinary heroism during the Korean War. As a first lieutenant with the 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Burke repeatedly exposed himself to intense enemy fire while leading attacks and rescuing wounded comrades during fighting near Chongdong in October 1951. Following the war, he remained in the Army, retiring with the rank of Colonel after a distinguished military career.
