Paul W. Tibbets and Charles W. Sweeney dual-signed First Day Cover commemorating the Fort McHenry Flag from the Historic Flags Series. Signed by Enola Gay pilot Paul Tibbets in blue ink with his printed designation, "Pilot Of The ENOLA GAY Hiroshima, Japan 6 Aug. 1945," and by Bockscar pilot Charles W. Sweeney in black ink above. The cover bears a 6-cent Fort McHenry Flag commemorative stamp canceled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on July 4, 1968, the official first day of issue.

Paul W. Tibbets (1915-2007) commanded the 509th Composite Group and piloted the B-29 *Enola Gay* on August 6, 1945, dropping the first atomic bomb used in warfare over Hiroshima, Japan. Charles W. Sweeney (1919-2004) piloted the B-29 *Bockscar* on August 9, 1945, delivering the second atomic bomb over Nagasaki, Japan. Together, their missions marked the only wartime use of nuclear weapons and played a pivotal role in the conclusion of World War II.
