Fred M. Vinson autographed Louisa National Bank check dated April 23, 1921, drawn on his account while practicing law in Louisa, Kentucky. The check is made payable to Clyde L. Miller in the amount of $16.85 and is signed by Vinson in dark ink. The check features his printed attorney-at-law heading and was issued more than two decades before his appointment to the United States Supreme Court.

Fred M. Vinson (1890-1953) served as the 13th Chief Justice of the United States from 1946 until his death in 1953 after being appointed by President Harry S. Truman. Before joining the Supreme Court, Vinson served as a U.S. Representative from Kentucky, Secretary of the Treasury, and Director of the Office of Economic Stabilization during World War II. As Chief Justice, he presided over the Court during the early Cold War era and laid important groundwork for the constitutional developments that followed under Chief Justice Earl Warren.
