Clarence Thomas (1948- ) has served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States since 1991 after being nominated by President George H. W. Bush. Before joining the Supreme Court, he served as Chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and as a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Thomas is the longest-serving current member of the Supreme Court and is widely known for his originalist approach to constitutional interpretation.
