Clarence Thomas (1948- ) has served as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court since 1991 after being nominated by President George H. W. Bush. He is the longest-serving current member of the Court and is known for his originalist approach to constitutional interpretation. Prior to joining the Supreme Court, Thomas served as Chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
