Joseph McKenna (1843-1926) served as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1898 to 1925 after being appointed by President William McKinley. Before joining the Court, McKenna served in the U.S. House of Representatives, as Attorney General of California, and as U.S. Attorney General. His lengthy tenure on the Supreme Court spanned a transformative era in American constitutional law, including the Progressive Era and the early twentieth century.
