Anthony Kennedy autographed First Day Cover honoring America's law enforcement officers, signed prominently in black ink across the lower right portion of the cover. The ArtCraft cachet bears the 6-cent "Law and Order" commemorative stamp canceled in Washington, D.C., on May 17, 1968, the official first day of issue. The cachet depicts police officers protecting the public together with the inscription, "Saluting the Guardians of Law and Order."

Anthony M. Kennedy (1936- ) served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1988 until his retirement in 2018. Nominated by President Ronald Reagan, Kennedy became one of the Court's most influential Justices, frequently casting the decisive vote in many of the nation's most significant constitutional cases. Prior to his appointment to the Supreme Court, he served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
