The sepia-toned portrait photograph is mounted to its original photographer's board and inscribed, "With Cordial regard, Charles E. Hughes." The finished mounted piece measures approximately 6.75 x 10.5".

Charles Evans Hughes (1862-1948) was an American statesman, jurist, and politician who served as Governor of New York, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, U.S. Secretary of State, and later as the 11th Chief Justice of the United States. Widely regarded as one of the most influential legal minds of the twentieth century, Hughes helped shape American constitutional law during periods of profound political and economic change.
