Russia, circa 1872. -Mother of God with the Christ Child- Tempera on wood, 31 × 27 cm, with finely engraved and relief-worked silver oklad, cloisonné enamel in blue, turquoise, green and red tones. Depicted is the Mother of God with the Christ Child. Oklad with Russian silver hallmark 84, as well as year 1872. Particularly noteworthy is the exceptionally elaborate enamel decor of the nimbus and the surrounding border. - Condition: Signs of age and use, rubbed, paint loss and minor restoration marks.
