An 18th century triangular marble over door crest Supraporte Carved Patrick Graeme & Jean Pearson, 1739 Of triangular form, carved with the motto 'A Deo Victoria' and 'Rather Die than Disloyal' above a coat of arms, the base worked with the names Patrick & Jean Graeme, nee Pearson, dated 1739, 135cm wide, 64.5cm high (53in wide, 25in high) Footnotes: By repute this lot was made for the new Inchbrakie House built 1733-39. Inchbrakie Castle was burned by Oliver Cromwell's army in 1651 and suffered further damage by the Duke of Argyll after the Battle of Sheriffmuir. Patrick Graeme 7th of Inchbrakie (1670-1740) married Janet Pearson of Kippenross (1677-1745) in 1691, the Arms & Motto being a combination of the two families.
