Display Case circa 1890, Dresden, walnut interior, porcelain plaques with polychrome painting with brass fittings. The upper cabinet features a shaped crest with figural ornament, beveled mirror-front door opening to interior shelving, a small drawer, and graduated open display shelves along both sides. The lower cabinet is raised on cabriole legs and fitted with two serpentine drawers. Particularly decorative are the inset hand-painted porcelain plaques depicting romantic courting scenes, each surrounded by ornate gilt-metal frames. Additional gilt floral, scroll, and figural mounts embellish the cabinet throughout. Measures approximately 80" H x 42" L x 19" D. Presents beautifully with age-related wear consistent with use.
