Finley, this presentation cane depicts the newly opened Kinzie Street railroad bridge (originally called the Chicago & Northwestern Railway Bridge) in Chicago, Illinois in 1908. At the time, it was the worlds longest and heaviest bridge of its type. The design of the bridge was based on the patents of the engineer who designed the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. While the Kinzie Street bridge is no longer in service, it is a designated Chicago landmark and stands as a historic reminder of American ingenuity, much like this cane that depicts it.
