KOLBE BRUNO: (1850-1925) Baltic German physicist. A.L.S., Bruno Kolbe, to the recto of a plain postcard, St. Petersburg, 8th November 1906, to Leybold, a renowned German manufacturer of scientific and laboratory instruments, in German. Kolbe states that his colleague, Mr. Klaus, had asked that an order be placed for an additional six double prism apparatuses, Type B, together with replacement wires (four black and four yellow, varnished, for each apparatus), remarking ?If the prism apparatuses of the same type that I previously ordered have not yet been dispatched, I would ask you to include these six additional instruments with that shipment and to enclose an invoice?. Kolbe also explains that he has received Leybold?s latest catalogue which includes a rheostat, commenting ?I believe it would be preferable to attach the first double terminal directly above the rheostat by means of a flexible yellow insulated copper wire approximately 40 cm in length. What do you think?would it not also be advisable to mount the resistance (about 1?2 ohms) on top of the coil? (Manganin wire, approximately 0.6 mm thick.)?. Hand addressed by Kolbe to the verso. VG
