Burled call has matching number 44 insert and wedge block Though little is known about Dr. Stofer himself, who served as a medic in World War I, his calls are incredibly collectible and well known for the volume they were made in. Stofer based his highly popular metal reed calls on a style forged by Tom Turpin (1871-1957). Stofer produced the vast majority of his calls from the 30's through early 50's, during which calls in this style were highly popular with hunters.
