William H. Garner (1869-1937)

William H. Garner was said to have carved decoys for local hunters and some for use at Winous Point Shooting Club and Ottawa Shooting Club. One of his clients who commissioned a mixed rig of decoys was John Alexander Hadden, Sr (1886-1979), who had ties to both clubs, and was said to have had to rig made for use at the clubs. They are scarce examples with not many surviving.
The decoy has an applied forward swimming head with small shoe button eyes and thick combed paint across the sides and back.
Condition: Structurally original with very early working paint. A couple stabilizing nails have been added to head.
