George J. Aho (1911-1994)
Rapid City, MI
6.25"
Petite perch decoy with metal fins and a wooden tail
Sometime in the early 20's and 30's George began to perfect fish carving, learning from the most popular styles in his area leading to most of his work having attributes from the Cadillac School of carving. He carried those attributes through his career though he largely slowed except for special orders after WWII, and resumed carving in quantity later in life. Most of his production was in smaller sized decoys. Many of his decoys reside in the Finnish Heritage Museum.
Condition: Excellent and original with minor paint loss to back left fin-body junction
