Description
A small earthenware pitcher featuring relief-molded decoration and a variegated lead glaze. The vessel is constructed with a flared, scalloped rim and a pinched spout. The neck is embellished with a series of relief-molded scrolls, while the base displays a stylized fan or shell motif. A distinctive handle with multiple scroll accents is attached at the rim and shoulder. The exterior is finished in a mottled glaze of rich brown and moss green tones. Remnants of gold-colored script lettering are visible on the front of the body, although the characters are significantly worn and are not legible as a specific name or location. The base is unglazed, revealing a porous, yellowish-tan clay body, and lacks any visible factory marks, incised numbers, or labels. Height: 4.5 inches.
