The figurines are hand-painted in a matte palette with gold-tone accents on crowns and accessories. The human figures and camels feature hollow interiors, typical of mid-century German composition manufacturing. Multiple pieces in the collection bear a stamped mark in blue or purple ink on their undersides consisting of the word Germany, including the Virgin Mary, two of the Wise Men, the angel, and all three camels.
