Sir Francis Cook, 4th Baronet (1907-1978) was an artist and exhibited at the Royal Academy and elsewhere; he was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Associate of the Royal Society of British Artists, making Jersey his home from 1948. His friendship with other artists of his time accounts for many of the 20th Century paintings in the collection, probably acquired as gifts or by exchange.
