André Goezu is a Belgian artist who was born in Antwerp in 1939. He is a painter, printmaker and illustrator. Education at the Academy and the Higher Institute in Antwerp under the direction of A. Marstboom and R. De Coninck (1958-1963). Creates a world of dream and poetic imagination. His performances consist of fragments of various elements that, through their combination, acquire a magical appearance. From the press: "A.G. is first and foremost a sensitive painter who is absorbed in a refined atmosphere. In his work he resides between dream and reality, but it is the dream that drowns out everything. In his art everything remains calm and minor. One can enter his world only if one is inclined and able to reflect, and A.G. follows the trail of magical realism in a very personal way. He still maintains a mysterious yet poetic atmosphere. " (1966). Often stays in Paris but never forgot Antwerp. Prize for Engraving Art of the Province of Antwerp and laureate of the triennial Prize for Painting of the Province of Antwerp in 1973. Work to be explored in the Print Rooms in Antwerp, Brussels and Paris. Mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. About the artist

André Goezu (born 1939), born in Antwerp, Belgium, is a Belgian painter, printmaker, and illustrator best known for his work in the Surrealist and Magic Realist styles. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the National Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp. Since 1968, he has lived and worked in Paris.

Goezu's artistic practice encompasses painting, printmaking, and illustration. His work is characterized by dreamlike imagery and poetic imagination, reflecting his association with Surrealism and Magic Realism. He has developed a distinctive visual language that explores themes of fantasy and the subconscious. His technical skill in both painting and graphic arts has allowed him to express these themes across multiple media.

Goezu was awarded the Triennial Prize for Painting in 1973. He has served as a professor at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and as a visiting professor at the National Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp. His work is held in public collections including the Print Room of the Museum Plantin-Moretus in Antwerp, the Royal Library of Belgium in Brussels, and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris. He has exhibited in solo shows at galleries including De Zwarte Panter in Antwerp.
