The House of Fabergé Imperial Chess Set, distributed by Franklin Mint, was issued as a limited edition in 1990. This set is complete 32 piece are secured in a lined and fitted case, The top of the case, a chessboard, serves as the playing field. The pieces and storage case are in as new unopened condition.
Details from the certificate of authenticity: The imperial jewel chest set. “This is to certify that the imperial jewel chest is an original design by the house of Fabergé and consist of 32 plain pieces created in the tradition of the legendary collector eggs. Hand painted a deep chameleon, red or luxurious Malachi Green and lavishly accepted in 24 karat gold. The playing board is crafted of the finest in laid Burlwood, richly hand finished and complemented by decorative borders coded in 24 karat gold. The board contains a velvet line compartment for protection and storage of all the 32 pieces. Furthermore, it is certified that this elegant chest set is made available exclusively through the Franklin. It is signed James Wainwright, artistic Director house of Fabergé.”
