A graduate of the Shanghai Opera School, she performed extensively with the Shanghai Kunqu Troupe from the late 1950s onward. Celebrated as one of the 'Seven Beams and Ten Pillars' of the Shanghai Kunqu circle, she participated in numerous international cultural exchanges and performances in Hong Kong, Europe, Taiwan, and the United States. She has been teaching at the Kunqu Society in New York since 1990.
