During this formative years, he lived in a Manhattan apartment with his mother and their cat, Hester. Concerned that Hester was lonely, they eventually adopted twenty-five additional cats, each of whom Warhol named Sam. The 'Blue Pussy' portrays the once-lonely Hester.
