OVERALL CONDITION 1st: Portrait miniature is period but not original to the mount - mount visibly larger than dimensions of ivory support. Flesh pigments have faded. Some tiny spots of oxidisation in white pigments (lace fichu and plumes) visible under 10 X magnification. Some paint disturbance resulting from drying process on sitter's shoulder. Rubbing along perimeter of paint surface in this area. Ivory support with jagged edge at 4 o'clock. Some chips to paste and garnets. One of the smaller paste stones missing from intertwining ribbon surround. Pierced panel to reverse with shallow dents. Pin slightly bent. Overall in good condition. Accompanied by a much later curb-link chain testing as nickel plated copper. Chain length 57.5cm. 2nd: Slight fading to flesh pigments but on the whole, pigments remain generally very fresh. Some chips to paste and garnets - one garnet broken. Blue glass likely later 19th century replacements. Overall in good condition.
