A pair of Stevens and Williams engraved 'rock crystal' goblets and a James Powell and Sons (Whitefriars) engraved carafe by E J Hillebauer, circa 1880-85 and 1900 The goblets with generous ovoid bowls cut with flutes, cut and polished with trailing flowering branches, the cylindrical stems and star-cut conical feet similarly decorated, 14.4cm high, the carafe of pear shape with a flared rim and spreading foot, finely decorated with two birds and an insect in flight among fir branches issuing pinecones, one unfortunate bird snared by a branch, 18.5cm high (3) Footnotes: Provenance Christie's, 7 October 2004, lot 66 (goblets) With Jeanette Hayhurst, November 2001 (carafe) Damment Collection Edward John Hillebauer Jr was a glass engraver whose workshop was adjacent to Powell's glassworks.
