A Worcester teapot stand and a conical bowl, circa 1755-58 The stand of unusual strap-fluted rococo form, painted in blue with the 'Fisherman and Willow Pavilion' pattern, 15.2cm wide, the conical bowl with a neatly turned foot, painted with the 'Bare Tree and Speared Bird' pattern, 10.5cm diam, workman's mark (2) Footnotes: Provenance Mike Williams Collection The asymmetrical rococo form of the teapot stand is very rare. A similar example painted in polychrome enamels is illustrated by John Sandon in The Dictionary of Worcester Porcelain (1993), p.333. Mike Williams noted on his paper label that the 'Bare Tree and Speared Bird' pattern is rare, being found on patty pans with flared rims. It would appear that the present lot is the only recorded example of the pattern on a bowl of this form. However, a variation of the pattern occurs on a conical bowl from the Zorensky Collection, sold by Bonhams on 16 March 2004, lot 314.
