A good looking 19th-century French Louis XV style gilt metal cartel clock, beautifully cast in the Rococo taste with flowing acanthus scrolls, foliate ornament and an elegant pierced case.

The circular white enamel dial is decorated with Roman hour numerals and an outer Arabic minute track in underglaze blue, complemented by finely pierced gilt hands beneath a glazed bezel.

The twin-train movement, striking the hours and half-hours on a bell via an outside count wheel, is housed within the ornate gilt metal case.
The movement is unconfirmed as working and is offered as found.

The asymmetrical rocaille frame is surmounted by a shaped foliate crest and terminates in an openwork lattice apron, displaying the exuberant naturalistic decoration associated with the Louis XV Revival period.
