A mid-19th century English mahogany box of rectangular form, the lid decorated with brass inlaid scrolling foliate ornament surrounding a central vacant cartouche.
The box retains its original brass strap hinges and opens to reveal remnants of the original red paper lining.

Measures 20 × 14 × 8 cm (height).
The escutcheon plates are absent.
The exterior shows a good, warm colour with surface wear and marks commensurate with age and use.
The interior lining is worn
