A similar self-portrait painted a few years later is in the collection of the Princeton University Art Museum, and a drawing which is contemporary with that was with Lowell Libson & Jonny Yarker Ltd in 2015. The latter was dated 1728, suggesting that the present study probably dates from around 1718.
