Warffemius trained at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague from 1974 to 1979.
Central to Warffemius' work are trees, although Warffemius sometimes takes abstraction so far that they are no longer recognisable. He also incorporates impressions from distant travels into his colourful compositions. Warffemius is part of the Potsdamer Gruppe, which also includes Armando. In 2007, Warffemius was a guest lecturer at the art academy in Hamburg.
Warffemius won the Jacob Hartog Prize in 1997 and the Godon Prize in 1980. His work is owned by many Dutch corporate collections, as well as by the State and a number of museum and important private collections.

Piet Warffemius (born 1956), born in The Hague, the Netherlands, is a Dutch painter, graphic artist, sculptor, and ceramist best known for his colourful compositions centred on trees and impressions from distant travels. Warffemius trained at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague from 1974 to 1979. He is part of the Potsdamer Gruppe, which also includes Armando.

Central to Warffemius' work are trees, although he sometimes takes abstraction so far that they are no longer recognisable. He incorporates impressions from distant travels into his colourful compositions. His practice spans painting, graphic art, sculpture, and ceramics, allowing him to explore his subjects across different media and techniques.

Warffemius won the Godon Prize in 1980 and the Jacob Hartog Prize in 1997. In 2007, he was a guest lecturer at the art academy in Hamburg. His work is held in many Dutch corporate collections, as well as by the State and a number of museum and important private collections.
