A nineteenth-century American acoustic violin by master luthier George Gemünder, crafted in 1858, featuring an original paper label with a decorative scrollwork border pasted to the internal back plate and visible through the left sound-hole inscribed \”George Gemünder, / New York 1858.\”, constructed with a one-piece carved maple back displaying a soft horizontal curl, matching figured maple ribs, a fine-grained spruce top table, traditionally positioned sound-holes, inlaid perimeter purfling, an ebony fingerboard, and a traditionally carved scroll terminating at the pegbox
