The narrative began with Captain Lou Albano, a wrestling manager, appearing in Cyndi Lauper's 1983 music video for 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun'. A faux fight was created, and Lauper and Albano had a verbal brawl on WWF television programs. The scripted altercation led to Lauper choosing female wrestler Wendi Richter to represented her against Albano's The Fabulous Moolah in the 1984 'The Brawl to End It All' at Madison Square Garden, which was broadcast live on MTV. In 1985, Hulk Hogan served as Lauper's bodyguard during her acceptance of her Grammy for Best New Artist. In the same year, Lauper appeared in Hogan's corner while he defended his WWF World Heavyweight Championship against 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper during the 1985 'The War to Settle the Score' fight. The storyline eventually concluded with the first WrestleMania in 1985.
