A RARE PAIR OF NOVELTY GEORGE III SCOTTISH SILVER WINE COASTERS

Edinburgh 1819, maker's mark rubbed, possibly by William & Patrick Cunningham, each modelled as a dog collar, one with a padlock, the other engraved with a hare coursing scene, each presentation engraved Strathearn Course Club, 2nd November 1819, Won by Zanga, The Property of Lieut Colonel Oliphant of Rossie, Zanga bred by Genl. Maxwell., each with turned wooden base inset with a disc engraved with an eagle crest and motto Altiora Peto. (2) 15.6cm by 14.2cm by 3.5cm

The marks are rubbed. No splits or dents. The usual age-related surface wear. The engraved scene is crisp. In generally good condition commensurate with age.
