marked by Geraldus Hendrikus Bouscholte, the cover with figural finial modelled as Neptune holding a trident with a scallop shell, with chased scroll decoration, the cup of tapering cylindrical form, over a stem in the form of a cherub playing a conch shell and seated upon a dolphin, over a spreading circular foot chased with navigational instruments, globes and anchors, with various presentation engravings, including within cartouche Luke Smithett Dover, additionally with a crest and motto Virtute Et Labore and S beneath a coronet and Grateful Remembrance 1870. 45.5cm high, 29.8 troy ounces

Good condition overall. Not sitting entirely flat, stem with some looseness, rim slightly misshapen, light surface scratches and dings in places. The bowl lightly gilded.
