This late 19th century or early 20th century, Victorian set is done in a classic compote form. Each plate or dish is raised on a tall pedestal base and the rims have a gadrooned edge. The rim of each compote is pierced in an openwork form and beautifully hand engraved with flowing flowers and scrolling leaves. The pieces have never been monogrammed and are quite heavy for their size. The underside of each piece is marked for Davis & Galt, sterling silver purity and has a maker's mark for Gorham. This set is in great condition for its age and the engravings are crisp. There is some surface wear and light scratching to the center of each piece, but no dents and no repairs.
