The work matches Maurice Denis's avant-garde aesthetic with deep spiritual intimacy. Denis, a devout Roman Catholic and co-founder of the Ateliers d'Art Sacré, sought to revitalize religious art by infusing classical sacred iconography with the dreamlike, pastel color palettes and flat decorative forms inherited from his time with the Nabis. The execution of the book was an extraordinary technical feat handled by the Beltrand workshop. Each page is treated as an individual piece of art, boasting unique architectural or organic floral borders that frame the typography, all printed on fine Holland Van Gelder handmade paper with the specialized 'Fioretti' watermark.
