An Antique Burmese Dha Dagger in good condition. The dha is a traditional edged weapon found throughout Myanmar (Burma) and neighboring regions of mainland Southeast Asia, with forms ranging from short daggers to long, sword-like blades. Burmese dhas were used historically as both practical tools and weapons, and their design could vary according to region, ethnic group, and intended use. Many examples feature relatively straight or gently curved single-edged blades, simple or decorated hilts, and scabbards made from wood, leather, or woven materials. Elaborately decorated dha could serve as symbols of rank, status, or ceremonial importance, while simpler examples were used in everyday life. Burmese dha and related blades were also carried by soldiers and local fighting forces during periods of conflict, including the colonial and World War II eras. Today, Burmese dha is collected as examples of Southeast Asian arms and traditional craftsmanship, with their construction and decoration offering clues about the culture and period in which they were made.
