Details:
Leila Reitz autographed handwritten two-page letter on a single folded 5.25 x 7" sheet, dated December 5, 1954, from Klein Constantia, Cape Town, South Africa. Writing to a Mrs. Collins, Reitz discusses a request for autographs of prominent South African figures, explaining that while she possessed letters from Louis Botha, they were historically important and she could not cut the signatures from them. She further notes that she did not possess signatures of Cecil Rhodes or Leander Starr Jameson, adding that her late husband might have been able to assist. In part: "It is true I have some letters from Louis Botha but they are of an historical nature & I can't very well cut the signatures off. Those of Rhodes & Jameson I am afraid I haven't got at all. Were my husband alive he might have been able to help..." She closes, "Yours sincerely, Leila Reitz."
Very good condition with expected folds, light toning, and minor edge wear.
