Robert H. "Bob" Jackson (1934-) is an American photojournalist best known for capturing the Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph of Jack Ruby fatally shooting Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963. A staff photographer for the Dallas Times Herald, Jackson had covered President John F. Kennedy's arrival at Love Field and was riding in a press vehicle in the presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza when he spotted a rifle in a sixth-floor window of the Texas School Book Depository. Two days later, while covering Oswald's transfer from Dallas Police headquarters, Jackson photographed the precise instant Ruby fired at Oswald. The image earned Jackson the 1964 Pulitzer Prize for Photography and became one of the defining photographs of the Kennedy assassination aftermath. Jackson later covered Ruby's trial and continued a long career in photojournalism.
