Details:
James D. Watson autographed a first edition, first printing hardcover copy of Watson and DNA: Making a Scientific Revolution by Victor K. McElheny, published by Perseus Publishing in 2003. James D. Watson has autographed the title page in black ink beneath the author's printed name. The copyright page states "First printing, January 2003." Retains the original dust jacket.
Watson and DNA examines Watson's life and scientific career, tracing the work that led to the 1953 proposal of the double-helix structure of DNA and the subsequent development of molecular biology.
Fine condition.
James D. Watson (1928–2025) was an American molecular biologist and geneticist best known for his role with Francis Crick in developing the double-helix model of DNA, drawing upon crucial experimental work by Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins. Watson, Crick, and Wilkins shared the 1962 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and their significance for the transfer of information in living material. Watson later served for decades at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and authored the influential memoir The Double Helix.
