George A. Olah autographed First Day Cover commemorating Colonial American Craftsmen and the American Revolution Bicentennial. The ArtCraft cacheted cover bears a block of four 8-cent Colonial American Craftsmen stamps and is signed prominently in black ink by Olah across the lower right.

George A. Olah (1927-2017) was a Hungarian-American chemist who received the 1994 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his contributions to carbocation chemistry. His work greatly advanced the understanding of highly reactive carbon-based intermediates and had broad importance in organic chemistry, petroleum chemistry, and chemical synthesis. Olah spent much of his later career at the University of Southern California, where he directed the Loker Hydrocarbon Research Institute.
