Sheldon L. Glashow autographed First Day Cover commemorating the Centennial of the Telephone, postmarked Boston, Massachusetts, on March 10, 1976. The ArtCraft cacheted cover features Alexander Graham Bell and bears a plate-number block of four 13-cent Telephone Centennial stamps. Glashow signed prominently in black ink across the lower portion of the cover.

Sheldon Lee Glashow (born 1932) is an American theoretical physicist who shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics with Abdus Salam and Steven Weinberg for contributions to the theory of the unified weak and electromagnetic interaction between elementary particles. His work was fundamental to the development of the electroweak theory, a central component of the Standard Model of particle physics. Glashow has held faculty positions at Harvard University and Boston University.
