Helmut Hoelzer autographed commemorative postal cover honoring the Apollo 11 Moon landing, postmarked July 20, 1969, at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Hoelzer signed prominently in black ink across the lower right portion of the cover.
Fine condition.
Helmut Hoelzer (1912-1996) was a German engineer and rocket scientist who worked with Wernher von Braun's team at Peenemünde during World War II and later continued his career in the United States. A specialist in guidance and control systems, Hoelzer contributed to the development of early ballistic missile technology and later to American spaceflight programs associated with the Marshall Space Flight Center and the Saturn launch vehicles.
