Joe Frazier (1944-2011), known as "Smokin' Joe," was an American professional boxer and Olympic gold medalist who became undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Renowned for his relentless pressure, powerful left hook, and extraordinary durability, Frazier is forever associated with his legendary rivalry with Muhammad Ali. Their first meeting, the 1971 "Fight of the Century" at Madison Square Garden, ended with Frazier handing Ali his first professional defeat. The two later met twice more, culminating in the celebrated "Thrilla in Manila" in 1975. Frazier was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.
