Ron Turcotte (1941-) is a Canadian Hall of Fame jockey best known for riding Secretariat to victory in the 1973 Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes, completing the first Triple Crown in 25 years. Turcotte also rode Riva Ridge to victories in the 1972 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes and became one of the leading jockeys of his generation. His partnership with Secretariat produced some of the most celebrated performances in horse-racing history, most notably the 31-length victory in the 1973 Belmont Stakes that secured the Triple Crown and established a race record that still stands. Turcotte's riding career ended after a 1978 racing accident left him paralyzed, and he was later inducted into both the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame and the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.
