Henry Schauer autographed First Day Cover honoring historian Francis Parkman, postmarked Pendleton, Oregon, on November 1, 1975. The ArtCraft cacheted cover bears a block of four 3-cent Francis Parkman stamps and is signed prominently in black ink by Schauer, who added "T/Sgt. Henry Schauer," "C.M.H.," and "Italy - 1944."

Henry Schauer (1918-1997) was a United States Army soldier and Medal of Honor recipient for his actions during World War II. Serving in Italy in 1944, Schauer distinguished himself in combat while fighting with U.S. forces during the Italian Campaign. He received the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action.
