Chuck Older autographed First Day Cover commemorating the United Nations 31-cent Air Mail issue, postmarked United Nations, New York, on June 27, 1977. The ArtCraft cacheted cover is signed in black ink by Older, who added "A.V.G. - Flying Tigers & 23rd Fighter Group, 14th A.F.," documenting his wartime aviation service.

Charles Herman "Chuck" Older (1917-2006) was an American fighter pilot who served with the American Volunteer Group, better known as the Flying Tigers, in China and Burma during World War II. After the AVG was disbanded, he later returned to combat with the U.S. Army Air Forces and served with the 23rd Fighter Group of the Fourteenth Air Force. Older was credited with multiple aerial victories during his wartime service. After the war, he became an attorney and judge and later presided over the 1970 trial of Charles Manson and several of his followers.
