McClurg, VMF-214 Black Sheep, 'Pappy' Boyington's Wingman, 7 Zeros," documenting his service with the legendary Marine Fighting Squadron 214 and his seven confirmed aerial victories during World War II.

"Bob" McClurg was a Marine Corps fighter pilot who served with the famed VMF-214 "Black Sheep Squadron" under the command of Medal of Honor recipient Gregory "Pappy" Boyington during World War II. Flying the Vought F4U Corsair in the Solomon Islands campaign, McClurg was credited with seven aerial victories against Japanese aircraft. He remained closely associated with the celebrated Black Sheep Squadron throughout his life and frequently participated in reunions and commemorative events honoring the unit's extraordinary wartime legacy.
