Sarah Collins Rudolph (1951-) is an American civil rights figure and survivor of the September 15, 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Rudolph was 12 years old when members of the Ku Klux Klan planted dynamite beneath the church, killing four girls: Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, and Cynthia Wesley. Rudolph was standing with the group when the bomb exploded and suffered severe injuries, including the loss of her right eye; her older sister, Addie Mae Collins, was among those killed. The bombing became one of the defining atrocities of the Civil Rights Movement and contributed to growing national support for federal civil rights legislation. Rudolph later became widely known as the "Fifth Little Girl" and has spent decades speaking publicly about the attack, its lasting effects, and the history of the civil rights struggle in Birmingham.
